From stitches to statements: Leeds Craftivists celebrate campaign successes!
We’re excited to share details of two “wins” for our Leeds Craftivists following recent campaigns on Transform Trade and Asylum and Sanctuary.
Our Transform Trade campaign from Spring this year highlighted a need for a UK Fashion Watchdog. Following contact from one of our Craftivists, Bradford South MP Judith Cummins has confirmed that she will support measures to ensure that clothes retailers treat their suppliers properly!
Our campaign on Asylum and Sanctuary in Autumn 2023 was in collaboration with Asylum Matters and their “Lift the Ban” campaign. We’re delighted to share that Alex Sobel, MP for Leeds Central and Headingley, has very recently tabled an amendment to allow Asylum Seekers the right to work while they wait for a decision on their right to remain – the very amendment we have been campaigning for!
Thank you so much to everyone who took part in these campaigns – the actions we’ve campaigned for will make a substantial difference to real people. It just goes to show that our gentle activism approach makes a real impact.
