Pride of Place Living
Emily talks to Jane Stageman, Chair of Pride of Place Living. Pride of Place is a charity which was set-up in response to a report done by Leeds City Council which recognised that the LGBTQ+ community in Leeds needed a community centre, and multi-generational housing.
Eco-Anxiety
Craftivist Leaders Emma and Anna reflect on the opening Eco-Anxiety campaign session with Jo Musker-Sherwood from The Rest of Activism, discussing their experiences of climate anxiety, and their strategies for healthy, long-term activism.
Women in Politics
Anna talks to Dr Sally Osei-Appiah. Sally is the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Learning & Development Manager at the University of Leeds, and she holds a PhD in Media and Communications with a focus on Women in Politics. This is a really timely conversation about the ways female politicians are portrayed in the media, with some helpful thoughts on how we can try to discern truth.
International Conflict and Local Communities
Anna is joined by Simon Philips, Interfaith Director for the Jewish Representative Council and Vice-Chair of Leeds Faith Forum, and Kaneez Khan, Interfaith and Communities Coordinator for Wellsprings Together. Simon and Kaneez each share how the current conflict in Gaza is affecting faith communities here in Leeds, and they also reflect on the value of interfaith relationships and events, perhaps now more than ever. This is not a conversation about the events in Gaza, rather an opportunity to hear from local people about how this is affecting people in our city.
The Art of Enough
Anna and Emily discuss Toxic Masculinity, Misogyny and Modern Slavery with Deacon Kerry Scarlett. At the time of recording, in September 2023, Kerry is the Vice-President of the Methodist Conference, and prior to this, her career has included ministry, workplace chaplaincy and the development of the West Midlands Anti-Slavery Network and the Adavu Project, a Birmingham District project supporting survivors of modern slavery.
Toxic Masculinity, Misogyny and Modern Slavery
Sam talks to Becky Hall, a leadership and life coach, and author of the book "The Art of Enough".
