Sketch Walks - Our Why

At Leeds Sanctuary, our core values are Relationship, Flourishing and Justice. Our Sketch Walks are an opportunity to explore our city’s history of justice-seeking, and how our relationship with the past can change the future, as well as taking some time to get creative and put down roots so that we can flourish in the city we call home

In Jeremiah 29:7, God says “seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you… and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” Leeds has a strong history of activism and much good has been done in the past, but there is still more to do. We believe that through understanding the past, and listening to and working with local people, we will be in a strong position to support the welfare of the citizens of Leeds.

Our heritage as a Methodist charity also calls us to serve those around us, being good neighbours to people in need and challenging injustice.
